Tbf she’s not leaving because she thinks they will kill her anymore. She just said she’s leaving so that the duke can turn back time and get his wife back.
In her mind she is making the hard decision so he doesn’t have to. Which is true. He now doesn’t have to battle with his feeling of keeping Laria safe versus having his son marry the princess.
But it’s never that simple right?
