It's kind of sad the amount of comments saying they're disappointed that Deku's "not a hero" because it just misses the entire point of the story. Sure he's nice out there jumping from building to building, but he's a hero because there's no longer any need to do that. Now they have a society of caring people who will go out of their way to reach out to a complete stranger. It's those initial small acts that keep tragedies like Shigaraki and Stain from being born and giving people like that a chance to live their life full of love. It's just sad because that means after 10 years of making this manga, the mangaka's message still couldn't get through to some people. Deku's still working as a hero, not in the costume super power sense, but he never stopped. (Don't come for me)

I get your point and I agree, but still it is dissapointing, since he was a kid he wanted to be hero, he become one and one of the greatest, but he lost it all.
It's like being super famous sportsman, being the best at something, and then one day after greatest win poof, your career ends.
It's maybe not the end of the world, but it's heartbreaking.
And I think most ppl who are disappointed that he is quirkless once again, simply put feel sad for him.
Especially since he is alone, without cute waifu Uraraka waiting for him at home.

Lol why would Uraraka be waiting for him at home, she's got her own life to live. And honestly it is sad he lost his quirk because it lost the connection to past heros, but other than that he didn't lose everything because his legacy lives on in his students and everyone who learned from him. And it's totally valid to feel a little whatever you wanna feel, but I think that if we do feel sad then we should ask ourselves why and what does that say about our perception of a hero, because Deku was already a hero before he got a quirk. Also slightly different from being an athlete (altho I do get what ur saying about the sense of loss once u reach a certain point and retire). Hero is a lot more loaded because it's not defined by physical prowess or ability but by the ability to inspire and emotionally touch others. So I don't think Deku ever really thought of his quirk being what defined him as a hero. It sure helped him do what he needed to, but to him it was always a borrowed quirk.

I was joking about Uraraka, because I'm surprised author didn't finish her plot line of loving Deku.
Athletes also can inspire people especially when someone is super famous, but still humble and generally good person, just saying.
I think it's sad, because for eight years he was leaving life of civilian, while all his friends were leaving life of heroes, he was kinda left behind, plus his friends were too busy to even meet with him.
I know that author showed us that Deku is ok with it, but still I think most ppl wanted him to still end with even basic ofa.
Lastly I think that it's weird that we get this last pages with him and Almight and iron man suit, it seems like this part was added last minute, idk maybe his editor was not happy with the ending and asked him to add something for Deku to still be a pro hero.
Yesterday I found an article with Hirikoshi team saying that there will be few projects with MHA, so maybe we will get some spinoffs, movie or even a sequel after 8 year time skip, it could be awesome since there are few plot lines that could be explored, like Deku's fking father, author promised that he will show up before end of the manga, but this fker is still buying cigarettes somewhere.
Plus I would love to see reunion with whole class A, and see what kind of lives they living outside of pro hero work.

Lololololol the point about Deku's dad is such a vibe like where is he?! I am so curious why he's never there.

I agree athletes are very inspirational! (Me thinking maybe I could be half as good as any Olympian while I watch the Olymics ahaha) But I'm not sure if their main goal is always inspiring others to do good. Some that's def the case, but I think the assumed motivation is a bit different.

I would also be so interested in a reunion, seeing everyone grown up and how their relationships developed. I think there's one more chapter left in the manga, so it'll be curious to see what Hirokoshi decides to do with it! Tbh I think it'd be wild if his dad's quirk was being invisible and his mom never actually had a quirk, it was him just moving the objects for her
