No lol people (seasoned readers) who don’t think this stuff is okay and grow out of it just don’t read it and that’s fine. People aren’t okay with this sort of thing irl and that’s normal, I agree! But this is fiction, and these people are wishing death on people in the comments and talking about the author and reading it still, and acting morally superior like we all aren’t reading illegally anyway
People are allowed to read something even though they don't like it, and complain about it. I don't agree with the whole death threat thing, that's not something I would personally do. What I mostly took an issue with is the whole "new gen" readers thing, I don't understand that mindset. It reminds me of older generations making fun of newer ones for being more aware of issues because they're young
Especially with the death threats is when it's too far for me, i saw some person saying that they want the authors' Twitter handle in order to harass them, that's when it's really too far and just weird.. the acting morally superior thing I don't understand either, I'm genuinely just asking- why do you care about that to begin with?
I’m ngl the way you word everything in your response is is confusing. But I will say this, “new gen” readers are typically very young and feel like their own opinion is what’s morally sound and correct, if not then they wouldn’t be trying to harass the author. Especially when they’re mad about a free translation on an illegal website. They pick and choose what they think is right, the morally correct way would be not even using this website. When you get older you grow out of stuff like that, you don’t engage with stuff that makes you mad, and that’s a cyclical process as people get older and newer and younger readers engage. Look at the comments from 2017, the difference is laughable, from these new upright “good” bl readers(god forbid you say fujo or fudan)
I know what new gen means. I was asking that I don't understand why you care that they're acting like they're "morally correct". Also again like I said, people are allowed to engage with stuff they don't like, older readers definitely do that! That's the thing with reviewing stuff, people are allowed to say whatever they want about whatever they just read, and others are allowed to say stuff about their review, but it's different when you say that they shouldn't read it at all just because they don't like it
-I was asking that I don't understand why you care that they're acting like they're "morally correct".
Pretty sure they don't care. It's just pointing out that if the new gen fujos care so much about a story not checking their moral values like "age difference or incest" they should be caring that they're reading on an illegal site as well. Basically they're picking when to choose to be morally right which is hypocritical making their complaint nonsensical.
-What, is that suddenly a new rule? Again, we're allowed to read stuff we don't like girl
It's not a new rule but it IS common sense. For example, if incest makes you uncomfortable and the title/summary obviously has indications of it, the most rational thing to do is to not read it. It's like watching a horror movie and complaining it has horror in it which in the end is stupid since it could have been avoided altogether had they used common sense.
-Forgot to mention that it's better to just argue with their points instead of just saying that they shouldn't have read it in the first place. it's just unproductive
It's better not to engage with them actually. Simply because it's not enough for these new gens when they say "I read this but don't think this is fine in real life." They want readers to "show" that they're against it and if that means not consuming stuff that "glorifies" bad things, or even the authors creating thinly veiled propaganda deriding those same bad things, then that's what they have to do to be a "good person."
They're literally declaring their hatred of "toxic/forbidden relationships" and will just straight up argue nonsensical stuff like insulting the personal itself to push them to agree with them.
Have you never heard of hate reading?? Like I'm so confused rn so many people read stuff they don't like just because they want to, it's the same as those reviews that hate watch a certain show or book because they want to know how bad it is. I don't really care about the other points because I don't see a point in arguing about that since it's just gonna go in circles, all I'm saying is that people are allowed to review whatever they want
This is both very classic and graphic in a way that seems to be breaking modern BL readers minds lol
