I think that director has dirt on almost every one of her musicians. She's the type of person that wants to be able to control her musicians. I'm sure that whenever they decide they want to go against her wishes, she'll use the information she has about them (like the cds) and threatens them with it. Those cds probably contain a lot of really damaging information about almost all of her stars, like tapings of their sexual exploits. Which is the case with Simon.
So yeah, blackmail, but probably on a lot of more people than only Simon.
