Bruh then u have not been online cause everytime I hear about any of those it's about how brutally SA the characters were, it's not only this story...the authtor is also a major part of it cause she states stuff she saw the scenes in Jinx as "love scenes that she likes all equally" and doesn't acknowledge that it's SA cuz she says Dan is not a victim

Personally the only other BL I’ve heard of from this list is Painter Of The Night, and…I most certainly do recall it getting heavy backlash for its depictions of rape and sexual assault lol. I can’t say whether or not that backlash is warranted because I hardly remember that story now LMAO but. The reason why this one is getting backlash is likely simply because it’s popular? Amongst other reasons but. Yeah. People are only going to go after things they know about, after all.
Besides that I’ve definitely also seen (and participated in!) discussions about the overall trend of BL to have rape/sexual assault depicted in them. Just because you’re not in the space where it’s happening doesn’t mean it’s not happening, you know?

I've actually called out Painter of the Night awhile ago, and 2 people ended up excusing the content despite me literally articulating what happened and why it's wrong. It's not that were being hypocrites, it's just that people who call out problematic stuff like these gets harassed. I myself am surprised on how many readers have come to call out Jinx right now, but I'm more glad for it. Maybe rather than saying that we're not doing anything and are being hypocrites by not calling out those you've listed, you can otherwise just call out stuff like this as well.
I haven't called out more problematic manhwas either because I haven't read them, or haven't seen content enough to elaborate on points. Usually I just don't read stuff I know I won't like, but when I do read them I comment.
And yes, just because you don't see them doesn't mean it's not happening, a lot of call out comments get buried.

I don't care about calling out anything. I like messed up stories but am self aware that they contain disturbing/messed up themes. It's like I stated, I don't like when readers choose to defend and hate on manwhas that practically have the same themes. I don't support people who excuse toxic behaviors/themes like rape or abuse btw

But that's how discourse works, I'm not going to force you in calling out anything as well, and yes you're aware that they're problematic. But it's not a problem for one manhwa to get called out heavily than the others, that just means one community is finally being more aware than the other? If more readers who are aware reads the same manhwa and call it out then it's simply inevitable for it to have more criticism. It doesn't mean that we're cherry picking, it simply means we're not in the same fandom or not reading the same stuff. I get what you're saying but? What do you want us to do? Stop? Or go instigate another war onto a manhwa we don't read or know?

Also there's litterly nothing to be done. Authors will continue making these types of stories bc they like these types of tropes. I dont like the fact that people are trying to defend the ml's actions either. At the end of the day it's the readers choice to read something else- I don't have the right to dictate what people are allowed to read or not and I would think it would be common sense that the ml is committing rape. I have called out and will continue to call out people who victim blame or defend rape

I wouldn't say there's nothing to be done, carefully articulating faults within a manhwa like what people are doing now, has other curious eyes become hesitant in reading them, plus it educates them about rights and wrongs. It's small progress yes, but progress nonetheless. If more people gets educated then it wouldn't be a fan favorite trope anymore, or something of the like. Or at the very least, people won't romanticize rape or assault as something romantic or sexy. You know? It's not a useless endeavor altogether.

I totally agree with you and don't mean to be hostile but my original comment was probably not directed towards your side of the community. I'm referring to the community that already reads and enjoys these types of stories and themes. That community does cherry pick from what I've seen and I don't necessarily expect people who hate these types of stories to do anything bc nothing would change in the first place. These types of themes have always existed even outside of bl media and I'm sure the authors wouldn't care either way since these types of stories have helped their career

I agree with your point to some extent but that's why it's 18+ content. I would assume people who are excusing rape and abuse are minors and I do think it helps educate younger readers abt not romantizising these types of stories, but at the end of the day these tropes have existed since the beginning of yaoi/bl. This type of discourse has been around for decades but I totally agree that talking abt it helps warn younger readers

I agree to your take to some extent as well, but I personally know readers who aren't minors that don't understand rape, SA, abuse etc. they act the same as the minors who defend manhwas like these, and even romanticize said toxic behavior. Yes it has been here for decades, but there's no wrong in calling it out, educating consumers, and pushing for more healthy tropes at the front than this.

I 100% agree! My original comment was simply to bring to light how readers shouldn't favor one story over the other when they carry similar toxic tropes. I think it's just very scary how influential people are in general to not understand very blatant rape. I personally don't like scrutinizing others for liking toxic tropes/manwha though and don't think there's anything wrong for preferring manwha like jinx then healthier/wholesome alternatives. In BL it's very unavoidable in general to not stumble across something like Jinx and I think it's good that you are choosing to educate those types of people.
I don't understand why it's ONLY this bl getting criticized when there are hundreds if not thousands of other bl's with similar messed up themes. I don't see roses and champagne, codename Anastasia, low tide in twilight, lost in cloud, painter of the night/ other popular bls getting criticized for having sa/rape in their stories...
