As the author said, in ss2 they will still argue like ss1, and it seems that ss2 will be heavier than ss1. I think ss1 is like a vague opening for us to understand more about Hayden and Brett, ss2 is where their relationship really begins. Brett will definitely be traumatized more or less after that event and this seems to be more bad than good for Brett, Hayden's condition is still unstable so it's hard to guess what he will decide after waking up.
My worry is that what happens at the party isn’t going to bring them closer but is going to scare Brett aware because what sex friend jumps in front of a bullet for you? Or maybe it’ll force Hayden to really confront how serious his bond has gotten and instead of talking (we know he doesn’t like that) he’ll move straight to the idea of the surgery and who knows what effects that will have on him and subsequently his relationship development with Brett. My point is whatever way this turns out I don’t see it bringing them closer because they lack the basics of trust and communication.
