I have my favorites that align with this one lol, I’ll put possible warnings and my personal descriptions in parentheses.
“His Favorite” is my favorite, lol, of the “popular pretty boy goes for the regular guy” (no explicit smut outside of kissing and one cut away, more comedy based). Another one is “Suki De Gomen” (has smut, slice of life-y, the couple talk a lot through issues! but the uke has confidence problems which pop up a lot)
Some of my other favorites that kinda touch on the appeal of popular x not popular. “ Muchi na Kimi to shitai koto” (smut, warning for some dubious consent lines with the main pairing, seme apologizes for once but still, and the sister of the seme tries to pry into his sex life which can be uncomfortable) a nerdy boy seme falls for a nice normal and relatively popular guy, the seme’s sister is an adult actress and is very nervous around intimacy because of past bullying and his sister’s openness about sex. “ Ookami-sama no Koiwazurai” (smut, some pushy attitude at the beginning from the seme but nothing too pushy in the bedroom, animal characteristics and mentions of heats and stuff) college setting, animal characteristic world where humans and animal people exist, not omegaverse. A wolf man who is the seme tries to go for a bunny but instead becomes interested in his friend who is a regular human. He is a bit of a kuudere not really a “regular” guy but the wolf man is popular and he isn’t and it fits the vibes of the rest of these.

I just read at the end of the road and it reminded me of this so give that a try! I will say it didn’t have me bawling my eyes out like this one but still amazing nonetheless.
