I think Deschar has expressed his regrets on not accepting Shelina and her mom (which led to them ignoring Shelina's existence for almost a year) a couple times. But I don't recall Charente ever doing so. He did apologize for the first nanny he got Shelina. But I don't recall him ever bringing up the 10ish months Shelina was on her own (including the time the maids abandoned her). I also don't recall him bringing up the maids that would bully Shelina between ages 1-3. He at some point found out about it cause he fired all of them but it's never really properly addressed.
Naw that wouldnt count as 2nd hand. If you read the actual thing thats 1st hand. I can read this or the actual licensed English version and get the information. Whereas if I get a spoiler from someone who apparently got a spoiler from someone else then I rather ignore it. Too many times I've seen people giving fake spoilers as fact and then have them spread by other people that trust them. Im not saying the info you got is wrong. Im just saying in this case I cant even check whether it is true and I cant take your word for it cause you didnt read it yourself.
I didnt say it was better. I just said that from what I remember I think the first time that the first time he considered killing her mightve been cause of the garden. I think he wouldve have killed her earlier on when Shelina got to the mansion if it was just about blood. He did dislike her from the beginning because of her blood and because she was Balian's child and Balian left the family. But I remember it was the garden thing that made him really angry. I think the only reason he didnt kill her when that happened was because Deschar didnt approve. Either way, they've been so obsessed with legitimacy and honor and heritage that they fr abandoned basic human dencency when it came to Shelina. What baffeled me the most was when they dismissed Ranianne's claims that Shelina was likely being abused by them, they didnt want to give Shelina to her, and they also didnt plan to take care of Shelina.
I’m pretty sure he mentioned smth about her being dirty blood and that it would be easier to just kill her and then grandfather didn’t approve. And I 100% agree, they abandoned human decency and even if they act nice to her now it doesn’t change their past actions and values. I think like they represent well how bad noble families were, except they try to romanticize it here and make them likable. If that abuse is never gonna be addressed and she just lives happily ever after with them then I’m gonna give this like 2 stars. Also agreed, didn’t get why they wouldn’t give her away even when Sherina wanted to go with her too
Yaaa they were making excuses like "no you cant take her cause her black magic will dissapear (cause of the paladin husband)" as if they actually cared and it wasnt just an attempt to selfishly keep her by their side.
I think what's frustrating is that we all see and know the severity of the abuse but MC herself doesnt fully acknowledge it cause her previous life was somehow even more trash than this one. Everyone involved is basically sweeping it under the rug
I wish they'd bring up how they neglected her and he knew she was around yet did nothing and let her fend for herself, That seems like an important piece of their relationship??
