I think you misunderstood. He doesn't like the best friend. At the flower part mc was looking back after Gido because he was proud that he finally could accept fully his feeling both the ones he HAD for Gido and the one he has NOW for the ML and that he didn't run away. The flowers were a beautiful symbol of acceptance and change.
Rightly said. Also seen when he commented how the flowers he gave to gido was wilting, while mc gave him the most beautiful one, made him realize his mistakes in his prev feelings for gido, strengthening his resolve to face and show his new feelings to ml. It was so subtle.

I like MC that i could admire and sure of themself, this one is not it for me.
