I know manhwas are not based on reality, I truly do. But as someone that loves orcas and understands the basic behavior of their species. This family clan of orcas gets annoying with the “survival of the fittest” mentality. It would be one thing if the terrible family was a plot device used to differentiate the FL or they made them a different type of magical orcas but NO! They keep bringing up how they are aquatic animals, how belugas are smarter, and using other real life characteristics of marine mammals to characterize these bum deadbeat characters. I get that most people don’t care about the technicalities but it bothers me to no end because they keep using real life as a reference! You would never catch an orca pod leaving their calfs to fend for themselves until they knew their kids could hunt for themselves. Their survival is dependent upon their familial bonds which last for decades! And besides that, the plot is just bittersweet, it takes three of her deaths for them to love her as her family? That’s just so sad. And I’m supposed to root for them and not the FL’s OGfamily who loved her regardless if she had to prove she was strong enough? This story had so much potential in my heart but the more it keeps going the more annoyed I get. I’m truly rooting for our FL tho, truly the only thing I love from this manhwa.

edit: im sorry for yapping away but the whole orca thing really bothered me. I love orcas so I was really trying to like this clan of orcas but no thanks!

Same, I also found it annoying. They could've used other animals who has those characteristics, yet they choosed orca ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍

If anything, they shouldve used dolphins as antagonist, because from what I know, they gang up on prey and r*pe female dolphins(NOT SURE). Really bothered me how dolphins here are depicted as docile and weak, when in reality they arent.

Just wanna clarify, Orcas (killer whales) AREN'T Whales, they're part of the dolphin family.

I agree, its weird how dolphins are considered docile and weak here, tho as orcas are dolphins too they have some of the same ugly behavior of "bullying." (Search it up, they murder seals, pelicans, baby whales (they DONT EAT ANY OF THESE) for 'fun'), So I'm guessing, the author did intend on making dolphins antagonists but since there's a larger specie, they made the small dolphins comparatively weaker.
Although I'm not saying what you guys said is wrong, most of it is right, orcas are known for their familial bonds and will do anything to keep their calf safe so I don't like how they depicted them as solitary creatures that only craves for power.

Hey guys, I just wanted to add more information regarding dolphins and orcas. Not all dolphins participate in those behaviors, i mention this because I don’t want people thinking that dolphins as a whole behave in that way. Orcas in particular, are animals that depend on learnt behavior (that’s been passed down) to hunt, they aren’t born with hunter instincts like big cats. While I can’t say that all orcas who kill other animals to exhaustion don’t enjoy it. It’s more likely they are learning how to hunt certain animals through repetition. All of this just showcases how diverse and intelligent they can be. They have the ability to abuse their strength and some do take advantage of it. They are intelligent enough to know they are inflicting pain and choosing not to indulge themselves in pleasure. Which makes the more terrifying than animals that do it solely because of their instincts. Truly terrifying beautiful creatures

I 100% believe they did ! The behaviors just don’t make sense. It’s like they saw the word killer and assumed they were this alpha based society where the weaklings get left behind when orcas will do absolutely everything to protect their calfs it’s so sad!!

From what i knew myself, the family bond of Killer Whale weren't supposed to be like this. Yes, they do play with their preys, even killer whales gang up on their foods coz they smart (seals etc). But i trully never heard the forced hierarchy like this by their own family

True forced hierarchy is weird definitely something the author made up. Actually, seals arent part of a killer whales diet. My professor told me their diet consists of only fish and squid, so seals, birds and baby whales are just eaten/killed (or eaten only certain parts of them like only eating the whale's tongue) out of curiosity

Well they are dubbed as the 2nd smartest creatures so we can think these 'bullying' as a result of bad parenting like that of humans and their entitled kids since not all pods act that way, some pods are gentle and generous to other creatures. They're creatures capable of doing acts of kindness which makes them extremely lovable.

Transient Orcas do eat marine mammals like seals. Offshore and Resident Orcas mainly eat salmon and smaller marine animals. Transient Orcas in particular are known for their brutal hunting habits lol Resident and Transient orcas are so different that they don’t even interact or mate with each other. They avoid each other at all

The only thing they got right is that a pod is lead by a matriarch. And that matriarch is supposed to support everyone not abandon their young wtf. I know when they reach maturity males leave but that's it. It frustrates me to read that they're cold towards their family too. I love whales they're so intelligent and have a good grasp of being a social animal building generations of knowledge and passing it down to their young, these people leave them to fend for themselves.

I totally agree with this. Also, if I'm not mistaken did they refer to belugas as dolphins, when they are, in fact, a species of toothed whales? I found it funny that they keep referring to killer whales as whales when they're dolphins and belugas as dolphins when they are whales lol.

Ikr!!! It’s so easy to go off on a mind tangent when reading this. Tho I enjoy the characters, their animal associations often made me laugh or threw me for a loop.
