Tbh it's implied he didn't really care for her, in the beginning, because when he got her the music box, his reason was "well she's a kid around my son's age so . . ", and of course they all assumed her mother was just overprotective/cared for her so much, so I think he just pitied her since she was a kid roped along in he mother's evil plans, and sent her to the cold palace.
He only cared when he found out he was lied to, and that a child was harmed, and since she's nothing like her mother, they are growing fond of her, I mean the empress did say she's always wanted a daughter, so it all kind of worked out in the end.
And her reasoning for loving them, is because it's the first time she was ever truly loved, and of course the emperor was the only one who sent her basic necessities which helped her stay alive while living with her mom, so it could be a sort of trauma bond or something? In her eyes he's sort of a savior.
Okay so can somebody please confirm to me, that the main love interest is not her nephew, is it? I'm only asking because Game of Thrones really threw me off and now I don't trust any show from any fantasy without trying to pull some rug underneath. So what's the twist? She actually was it the emperor's daughter, because her mother had an affair and she's really like the daughter of some ice Wizard or something and that the person she thought was her nephew / brother is actually not related to her and they can get married or something like that? Is that what they're going to try to do? Because I'm so scared what's this leading up to. Because usually in stories like this, any childhood friend is either going to be the second love interest or the main love interest. Damn it game of thrones, you got me paranoid
Page 6, personally PERSONALLY I whould still despise my brother I'd he sent me to the snowy spooky manshion but I can't hold my anger for anyone for some reason so ig
