Not arguing at all I agree with some of your points, but I think the pearls were necessary. It shows why he was stuck in the situation and how the pearls drew Dooshik in. Also, there was a lot of sex because this is a yaoi. Although I agree it was a bit much LOLL.

The main couple was forged out of desperate times and they were desperate for each other in a mere couple of months, self sacrificing and all. That trope has some charm, but not enough this time. It hurts more when they know each other for longer.
