That’s true. It’s just that BLs often use that as enough of an excuse for the victim to forgive an abuser (with no trauma or any repercussions down the line) and turn it into a romance story. While in reality, even though that is often a reason behind the abuser’s actions, the victim still suffers for a long time after the abuse. A happy ending would be for the victim to run away, get therapy and start anew. Not to end up with the abuser.
Idk, it just sets unrealistic expectations? Or an unrealistic portrayal of human emotions? After suffering through rape and mental or physical abuse, the victim’s wounds don’t just magically heal because they understand the reason behind abuser’s actions and he starts acting nice. And this is the message in lots of BLs - you can just be nice to the person that you treated like shit and it will all work out because true love is when they understand you and forgive you.
istg if they shove us with a "oh he was abused when he was a child" or "that's how he sees love because of his parents!" kind of backstory for jaekyung to make us feel sorry or understand his actions... I'm gonna throw hands mf
