But his mouth wasn't sewn iirc. Maybe it's a new kid that has the potential to be a villain like Shigaraki and the mangaka wants to show that Deku prevented that from happening. So even if Deku wasn't able to save Shigaraki, he saved others especially in the future (for a few generations or so)
