I've read this for so many years now that I feel like a mom who is realizing for the first time that my son grew up into a fine looking man and idk how to feel about it.
Like, I'm bragging, "Look at my boy, ain't he gorgeous?!" while at the same time, "Get tf away you pests, my son has a loving (and also very handsome) boyfriend" type of thing.
