Both ML's are assholes, one is a man child that she's known since they were children. They were engaged, because he's a prince & she's a saintess or something. But when it was said that she was a imposter. He broke off the engagement, because the idiot wanted to test her to see if she really loved him, or if she was just in it for the contract commitment. Stupid ass disappointed her badly, so she dumped his ass, & moved out. Now he's in shock & wanting to get her back. The other is a manipulative asshole, that ruined her entire life because he wants her. He's the one that spread the false information that she was an imposter (she's the real thing). Be a he wanted her isolated & need of only him.
I hate both idiots, but the FMl counts as a bad ass I guess. I stopped after a few chapters, so I don't recommend it. But totally up to you.

Lmao Asriel the popes goal was not to isolate her but to give her the freedom to see her family and live a life she deserved to make up for what he did as a child by making her unable to see her family by mistake. Yes what he did was wrong that’s undeniable but he’s not trash or an asshole because his intention was never to hurt her he only wanted to give her what he thought she wanted even if it made him take a messed up way getting there so Ersia could be free from the imperial family. If you’re going to spread information at least tell the truth by reading it and not just putting out false reasons like that. Obviously he still did a really horrible thing to her but his intention was not what you said it was at all…
