Why is tomato ketchup called ketchup, and not tomato sauce, even though chilli sauce is chilli sauce?

hmm, no idea. Ketchup isn't the same as tomato sauce tho, ketchup has a lot more sugar and is more concentrated than tomato sauce

In my country, the condiment ketchup, we call it tomato sauce LoL
