I think they *are* basing it on wolves considering the whole "alpha, beta, omega" terminology (even though that theory was disproven by it's creator DECADES ago, lol!), and I think wolves do have them? I know dogs do, and google seems to agree wolves have them as well, but I'm not an expert ;p
