Like babe!! So agree. Can’t even believe that the dad thought that that whole conversation was valid. It feels very narcissist coded to me. That whole flashback hurt; he was just having fun and the dad turned the whole thing into a competition. I agree with the Cliff part, it’s learnt behaviour.
How tf are you gonna scapegoat a child their entire life, while giving another the golden treatment and then be surprised when they give up on you? He doesn't even really care about the son- he's just mad he can't manipulate him anymore. The audacity to say that, "Oh, you've given up? I was thinking that if you married again, better, I could give you another chance." BITCH???? You didn't give him a second glance his entire life. You married him off against his wishes and now that he's found happiness, you dangle your approval in front of him? And controversial opinion- if Cliff treats Killian like shit, it's because he's seen his father give him that treatment his entire life. It's a learned dynamic.
What a grade A ass. The father doesn't even deserve his wife- if he couldn't treat them equally with love for themselves, he should have done it for his wife's sake. They're HER kids too.
