Honestly, I never really got mad over the necklace, I think it was a bit lowering to only define Edith by if she got a big hunk of stone to wear too, not that they were limiting her to that, but I felt that even if it was the story controlling things, that it wasn't a big deal, these stories have rich nobles but they be acting real broke and unimportant, as Edith says, low self esteem and shameful plugs

I don't quite remember but, wasn't the emphasis on the necklace because of the fact that it symbolizes their family, something like giving the necklace to Lizzy or whatever means that the family has accepted her as a member of their family?

it wasn’t about the necklace itself, it was more the fact that they denied edith yet another thing that traditionally would go to her. she doesn’t get any acceptance or proper treatment from that family, and when the duchess was standing there like “it was our decision” i was sorely disappointed cuz i thought she was on edith’s side. (basically what yanka said lol)
when she started thinking “why didn’t i think of edith once all day?” i started to understand that it was probably some sort of “voice” story thing, and she’s been making up for it with her actions since, so ive let it go.

don’t get me wrong the necklace is the most bombastic loud thing ever, and truthfully i’m glad she didn’t wear it cuz it looked too showy for her character anyway. but it’s more what the necklace symbolizes/communicates btw edith and the rudwicks.

God...I totally feel you...like it felt really nice when the duchess wore the dress that edith chose for her, and as far as the necklace is concerned, tbh I don't even remember how the girl looked like wearing it because when I read the chapter my eyes only went towards the necklace which as you said was showy. Now when I try to imagine the necklace, all that come to my mind is that bright blue colour

She only wore it once right, I swear that girl's so forgettable I can't even tell.

yes! when the duchess wore edith’s dress after ages of only wearing lize’s choices it felt way more impactful than any stupid blue necklace could’ve. really does feel like she’s making more effort to remember edith and include her as much as possible now.

i don’t remember what she looked like wearing the necklace either tbh, all i rmr thinking was “that necklace is too loud for that dress” and that was it. i’m sure if i go check my thought will be the same. i believe she only wore it once yh, during the… greeting the emperor ball? edith’s first public ball appearance since marriage. hopefully it never shows up again. gaudy jewelry is one thing but that thing is so overpowering, makes sense that its a statement maker and not a reoccurring item.
