Tay choose ilay cuz xinlu is actually more fuvked up in head than ilay he even wanted to take dead tay home and make his skin into bamboo tree to sleep than to keep him alive and tay has instinct to feel danger in someone so ilay is better choice to keep him alive there is nothing in their relationship since tay understood that xinlu personality is far more different than he showed him which was innocent act to persuade tay in the beginning and as usual ilay is jealous but happy at the same time. Tay don't hold grudges so he never interacted with xin after one time in novel.
