I mean he wasn't going to kill the guy and that was part of their duel arrangement, it's more of the son being afraid that his father would lose rather than his father dying, which is embarrassing

I didn't mean to side with that guy who cheat but if your family was about to die and has the means to protect them would you not go for it? I feel like what he did is kinda a reflex when someone threatens the existence of your family. But yeah he shouldn't do that....
