This person just seems to agree that the victim should stay with their abuser just because the victim forgive them. Everything is alright and dandy once the victim says it, then it’s okay.
That person is a weirdo for real. I really hope this is just their personality online and not in real life. Cause that would be very sad.
I'm not clear why you feel a need to explain it's fiction to someone, haha.. that's condescending. Art is supposed to make you feel. This art made people feel, and they have a right to have their feelings. This story has abuse to the extreme, such cruelty, not everyone wants a HE so bad that they could excuse all that horrific physical and mental abuse.
That is your opinion. Just like I have mine.
I am aware that this is “FICTION” as you’ve so hyphenated. But it does not change my “OPINION”.
This is saved as my ‘reading’
Stories evoke feelings, stirs emotions and stimulates conversation.
We cheer with their triumphs and cry with their hurt.
You said the emperor deserved happiness because this is fiction.
So I’m not supposed to defend the happiness of the mc because they’re not real people.
You see what a hypocrite you sound like.
What ideology?
I’m not the one going under people comment with my opinion on why I shouldn’t get panties in a bunch.
I’m not the one angry about another person opinion enough to go under their comment and telling them how they should react to something because it’s fiction.
You could have just disliked and move on yah know. (=・ω・=)
Idk why you all so work up with that part of the novel. There's various warning from author that there are episode contains trigger warning to stop reading if it's necessary for your own mental being. The abuse was so extreme as intended and depicted such cruelty to align with the setting and theme of the genre. THIS PART WHERE THE AUTHOR INTENTS SHOWED. I DIDN'T said that the MC forget what he went through nor the characters in this novel/manhwa did not know what he went through. That part has been underlined by the translator so much that it appears that the MC just forgive and forget what happened. Your feelings are valid, you have a right to believe that he didn't deserve this, you are absolutely right for getting mad and upset that he is forgiven however, this isn't about wanting HIM nor believing that abuse should be forgiven this is how an emperor in that time (and part of history) could do anything and have forgiven in the end.
Hmm, well.. I find your response all over the place. First, when you say 'that part of the novel', this entire story was repeated abuse. I dropped out reading it because it was too toxic for me personally. I read for entertainment and it wasn't entertaining to me, it was damaging. just my opinion and speaking for myself. I dropped back in because I had hopes his sister would get her comeuppance. I see to the end of the story the abuse was OTT.
Second, It doesn't matter if there was trigger warnings to the people who knew that and still read it and had an opinion about the story. They have that right. When you tell them 'it's fiction' it seems it's meant to diminish their own valid reaction to the story.
Third, you are answering someone else, because I never said I was mad or upset. Just pointing out that telling someone what they are feeling is incorrect because it's fiction doesn't make sense. Believe me, the authors of all stories are trying to move you emotionally, and this was very heavy handed in that way.
Lastly, yes, all through history, corrupt people with power could be merciless. It doesn't mean we shouldn't be appalled and instead wish for them to have a happy ending.
To the Brit profile, you are homophobic.
To Nyx, 'Killing Stalking' is a great example of what this (the manhwa) could've been and that's just to name a popular story. Stories of abuse have been written and succeed in telling heart-wrenching and mostly satisfying endings; it is very.. concerning to read such stories and want good endings for the abusers all under the basis of it being "fiction", there is a such thing as bad writing, lol.
To my knowledge, the book does have more ML suffering which (supposedly) would've made this ending more earned, though.
You're right! my messages poorly convey the intents and I apologize for that. It rather portray siding to the stories where everything is allowed under the gist of "fiction" than explain why the emperor got forgiven. And it is true that the novel was more cruel especially to ML just to get the redemption that he had on side stories and it satisfied me that he was able to win back Yooyoung because he truly change (kudos to his secretary that went through hell and back to explain to that narcissistic emperor how to be a good ol' forest!!)
I believe there’s some things in life that are just unforgivable; even if you’ve changed.
My heart is soft for the Mc, and I’m glad that he’s happy, but the emperor did not deserve happiness.
I’m just gonna go reread the part where he’s suffering after the mc falls off the cliff with the arrow in his chest.
