Spoiler: Forgot if they mention it in the manhua u yet but the spore act as like a regeneration for him idk how to explain it well but basically if he were ever to die, as long as he has the spore he can come back to life and he can do it indefinitely as long as he continue to produce spore to revive him.

it wasn't really explained explicitly at the start why he's looking for his spore. But An Zhe explained it to Lu Feng later when asked what the spore is to little mushroom.

As a little mushroom, his relationship with his spore is like a mother and their baby. So the spore is his child, and of course little mushroom will want to get his spore back

the revival thing is a major spoiler and was shown at the end of the novel

I know people already spoiled the ending for you, but to help you get some perspective, not even the little mushroom knows why he feels such a strong desire to find his spore. It's all instinct for him. All he knows is that it is important and that he needs to find it. It's not until the end when he finds out why the spore is so important.

Sorry I don't think this is correct. I read the novel too and from what I remember, An Zhe said the complete opposite. Lu Feng asked what the spore was to An Zhe and he didn't know what to say since it's relationship wasn't mother-child like. However, An Zhe just felt the responsibility to protect and raise it (like it was natural or default for him). I also remember him mentioning mushrooms don't have those types of relationships. I can verify this by looking for the chapter in case I'm wrong but this is really what I remember

This is what I recall as well. An Zhe said it felt different from a parent-child bond, but he also didn't know how to explain the way he felt about the spore. All he knew was that the spore was important.

sorry i was wrong i checked it just now.
.they other commenters were right. i misunderstood. cause an zhe said he gave birth to the spore. but he did say it can't be described as a parent child relationship
