Yoonwi is 704 in his past life

- they are brothers whose family have been suffering from Hwan’s possession. hwan was gonna kill everyone who seemed to be part of the prophecy (something a long the lines of “the one with the bow will end this calamity”) Which is why he wanted yoonwi (and hooseung as well) dead.

Hooseung (past, not Eunjae’s dog) is yoonwi’s and euneon’s friend since he’s from a spiritual family. He’s able to track ghosts and ghostly monsters down and see them. Because of that, he feels a sense of responsibility to protect euneon and yoonwi.

Hwan originally was gonna possess yoonwi. But Euneon wanted to take Yoonwi’s place and made a “deal” with Hwan to possess him in yoonwi’s place to protect him.

(Euneon and yoonwi have a very very close relationship. Euneon was neglected by their parents due to his weak condition, which made yoonwi really protective of him)

Geumsun is born out of the golden fan, which was a heirloom of hooseung’s family. Yama and hooseung know each other. Yama decided to raise geumsun (because he “needs” him for something, as the reapers said. Turns out he needs geumsun to get rid of Hwan)

Geumsun falls in love with yoonwi and vice versa. Which is why he wants to kill Euneon while he was being possessed by Hwan since he’s a threat to yoonwi(which works since as soon as a ghostly monster - hwan- possesses a human body, human/overworld laws apply to him. Important thing to know for later, when Sam appears)

Yoonwi overhears that and promptly goes back to the mansion to euneon to protect him. (He wanted Hwan to possess him since geumsun wouldn’t be able to kill him, since geumsun loved yoonwi. Just as yoonwi isn’t able to kill Hwan since he was in euneon’s body)

Both euneon and yoonwi die. Yoonwi due to Hwan (euneon’s hands) and Euneon let himself get killed by Geumsun.

The brothers are in the afterlife now.

Euneon’s punishment was late reincarnation - yoonwi took “the rest” of his punshiment (also called karma) and became a reaper. A reaper is basically an empty shell of the human they once were.

But his memory towards geumsun was already gone BEFORE he went to the afterlife. Why? (Will be explained in the newest season)

Geumsun and 704 become acquainted. Geumsun has a love/hate relationship with 704 cuz he kinda sees him as a parasite in yoonwi’s body.

Someday, San is born. He has spiritual sight which is why he has lead a very hard life. But his aunt took him in.

Hwan has shown interest in their family since they are spiritually strong. Aunty dies because of Hwan, I believe she took her own life because Hwan killed her lover?

San gets depressed and accumulates yin energy. Perfect for Hwan cuz a human with a lot of yin energy is easy to possess AND is basically a feast for ghosts (yin energy is like bad/sad/dark mental energy)

Geumsun is at the scene. Hwan has possessed San’s body. Geumsun heavily injures Hwan - he wasn’t able to kill him because of the guilt of killing an innocent human (San)

Geumsun and Yama come up with a plan. San is as mentioned, a feast in Hwan’s eyes - eating one San is like eating 100 or 1000 ordinary humans.

BUT Hwan wouldn’t possess San again, cuz NOW he is acquainted with geumsun, his archenemy.

Now THE BIG PLAN: make Hwan forget about San, so he would possess San again, so geumsun can have another chance at killing him.

Which is why it’s important to know that:

1. San was NOT mentioned ONCE in the flashback.
2. a living human who enters the underworld, will just disappear from the overworld and all their entities (so Hwan as well) will forget about them as well
3. Only Reapers can take humans into the underworld
4. Hwan is a being from the overworld - chained to their rules so he is bound to forget about San when he enters the underworld, which he did.

Geumsun and Yama make 704 take San into the underworld as an “accident. Geumsun wasn’t able to do that as a goblin, and yama basically kills three birds with one stone: make Hwan forget about San by sending him into the underworld, turn San into schroedinger’s cat so he could contain Hwan later thus creating a vessel/ultimate weapon to kill Hwan, and lastly keep his authority as a king since 704 was the one who took San into the underworld “on accident”.

Geumsun wasn’t aware that Yama would frame 704 in that way though I believe!

The heavily overworked 704 assumed San was already dead, since 1) San could see him (he could see him because of his spiritual sight, not because he was about to die but 704 didn’t know) even though 704 was hidden behind his shadow mask, which conceals him to normal humans. And 2) san has accumulated a lot of yin energy because of his aunts death. A big misconception here! So he took him with him to the underworld. And now, San is erased from the overworld and Hwan.

704 is punished for the “accident”. He’s watching over San now - which means geumsun is helping him (the whole thing about 704 having sex with geumsun, so geumsun could share his energy with San) To sum up 704’s relationship to Geumsum, he feels guilty. Not only because of San, but because geumsun had to take care of San. That’s why Yama suggest to him to sleep with Geumsun, so Geumsum could replenish his energy in a convenient way.

In the meantime, Eunjae has been long noticed by Hwan. Hwan is cooking up a meal basically by killing Eunjae’s parents and his dog hooseung (same name from the flashback!!), so Eunjae would acccumulate a lot of yin energy. It was also Eunjae’s fate to be possessed again, somehow, since he helped Hwan in his past life as euneon.

San and Eunjae “meet by fate” in chapter one!! No, geumsun and Yama had to test out if Hwan, who is now with Eunjae, would react to San. But he didn’t since San is non existent to Hwan now. Plan works!

Eunjae and San fall in love. Hwan is still thriving. 704 keeps finding out more about the whole deal behind San and Eunjae. San realizes that geumsun and Yama have been planning something.

So now, San has been introduced into the plan. He agrees to become a vessel for Hwan in order to protect Eunjae as well. As a reward, he will be reincarnated into something and someone he can decide for himself. He chose to continue the (miserable) life he had, for Eunjae.

Eunjae decided to keep the memories of San as well, even though it wasn’t clear what would happen to San and his memories.

San forgot, Eunjae is free of Hwan but still somehow able to see ghosts (probably the aftermath or hwans poession). And now we’ve reached chapter 111!

Kinda skipped through season 3 cuz I’m not too sure about the happenings there as well. I recommend rereading tho! Please add/correct me!!
