Genuinely hilarious, that this manga tries to paint itself as feminist, when it's anything but that.

"See! Look how evil Amihama is, being so brutally blunt, that she's mean!" Meanwhile the story never shuns from being brutal towards her"She reminds me of an animals" "She's so fat" "She dresses poorly"

"Look how pick-me-ish Amihama is!" Like the story isn't literally constantly asking you to pick the kind feminine woman, while putting Amihama down, because of her appearance.

I'm not saying Amihama is good, misunderstood or even normal. If I, in real life, worked at this workplace, I would hate her and love Honda. But this isn't real life, this is a story someone wrote and drew. They made Amihama a caricature of a rude person, then made her fat, loud, sexually liberated and unfashionable to gross you out.

Then they drew a younger, polite, quieter, beautiful woman, which you're supposed to obviously pick over her.

Wow, the ugly fat woman thinks that a man likes her, when he was actually just using her! Isn't she gross? Anyway, back to the model, that nearly cries tears of joy, when she receives a pretty shirt from a business partner.

I don't normally care about this stuff, it's pretty common in the lowbrow mangas, but c'mon! What does this story think it is, to lecture me, about how a proper woman should behave, when it makes such an insulting caricature out of its main character!
"It's just a joke!" Alright, who's it aimed at, what makes it funny and what is the author trying to say about the world through it?

Exactly! I was like... saba saba vs saba saba where? There's no competition there? And the other one wasn't "saba saba" in no moment? And why was she made pudgy and ugly? Her personality and delusions are the problem... but why make her look bad for being sexually free? Even her harassment hitting on those 2 guys from sales would be seen another way if she was hotter than them.
Honestly this feels like they put a bad personality on her to excuse bashing on a fat woman without bad repercussions.

I tend to look at things on surface level, so while I don’t disagree with you, I didn’t get that impression. I actually think she’s cute, but her personality ruins her attractiveness. The animal comment I took as the guy being an asshole, not a comment on her personally. I also don’t think she is being brutally honest, I think she’s just being mean. I take her as the type of girl to look down on others for being girly, propagating that ‘not like other girls’ discrimination and using it as a way to make herself feel superior. She didn’t come across as unfashionable to me, just very bad at her job. I think if she wanted to, Amihama could be really cool. Sexual liberation and honesty aren’t bad, but I think the point of her is that she twists them into something bad. It is true that this manga uses harmful stereotypes, but I don’t think we should focus solely on those. Some people are prefer Amihama’s type and dislike Honda, and some people like the author feel the opposite. The characters were written with that influence, but they aren’t extreme in my opinion.

Nope. If you consider the japanese beauty standards it gets very clear. From the big "garish" earings to always wearing the same kind of clothes, flats and blump lips and small eyes. Everything on her is the opposite of the "Ideal woman" in their standards. On the other hand Honda's only deviation of that image is being tactless, the saba saba thing. The only thing they didn't make this way is the hair color.
If the point was to highlight only Amihama's bad personality they'd have the same level of good looks on their standards. If it was Honda's great personality and competence she'd be the less good looking one. Making Amihama's appearance like that is just another excuse to badmouth her. Pretty privilege is real and she'd get away with a lot of things she's done if she was drawn as a beautiful woman.
