If all rumors stop when his brother passed wouldn't that mean just maybe he was taking the fall for his brother actions? Or it was a cover up to keep his brother from thinking he wants the title or whatever. And maybe he wasn't flirting with you because he likes you it could be that he doesn't want you telling the other maids about them and she gets kicked out.
