I appreciate the writing, it's very compelling, which is why I'm still reading. But you can acknowledge that something is well written or realistic (etc) and still be upset by it. The two things aren't paradoxical and don't have to be one or the other.
I've read this well written novel, but absolutely hated one of the characters. They were a very well written character, but I didn't like what kind of person they were, what they did, or what they stood for. It was still a good novel. And I still dislike that character. /shrugs
