am i the only one who thinks they're overdoing the comical effect? like, yes, yoojin is very funny but i feel like the webtoon sometimes treat him like a circus act whilst in the novel he comes a lot more a condescending and self-deprecating. i know they have to make the story more palatable but it annoys me a little. idk maybe I'll drop

NO ITS NOT JUST YOU. I’ve literally had this beef since the first eps. Like Yoojin is so much more clearly a caretaker and much more serious in the novel, and while I get comedy is easier to read, I feel like it sometimes hurts a lot of Yoojin’s the development in some of the core aspects of his character. Like he’s not childish, he can be petty but he’s still mature. It’s literally the whole point of his childhood.

No hate to the storyboarders efforts though I know they try really hard and unfortunately sometimes you just won’t satisfy all fans

exactly!!! especially in some scenes with sung hyunjae where yoojin was supposed to come across as haughty despite the fact he's a f-class, they draw him so silly he just looks kind of stupid? idk you worded it so much better than me

I also don't blame the storyboarders tbh. when it comes to adaptation they're already put under extreme stress from the editors and fanbase and it's very possible this outcome is not entirely what the artist envisioned either

Omg yesss the whole reason Hyunjae finds him interesting is because he’s a unique anamoly of a lower ranking guy who can handle the pressure of s classes which is why Hyunjae finds him so special because he’s so normal. And while I guess it could kind of be said that’s true in the manhwa SOMETIMES, there’s also the changes in manhwa Yoojin that kind of weirdly affect their relationship and how close seem to be? It’s weird af

I guess what the storyboarder is going for is Yoojin being much more light-hearted and comedic to mask his self-deprecation and depression, but I feel like the comedy is doing it too much in the wrong areas, which creates that weird whiplash.

Sorry for the rant LMAO i tend to go off ab things I enjoy

A lot of novel readers realize this too , the manhwa make him too silly when hes a whole scary adult in the novel so no its not just you , and i kinda get the frustration with this because sometimes we want to see him in cooler scarier light and they keep making him comedic relief in wrong time

I STRONGLY AGREE but I feel so stupid I've never read the novel before so I thought the silliness was jst yoojin trying to stay positive despite everything. I wish Yoojin would have some more realistic moments instead of the constant comedic relief sobsob
