this!! one of my pet peeves(?) is when the female lead doesn't match the ml energy. unfortunately it's commun in josei and shojo. you rarely find two leads that matche eaychother freaks lol

I agree and I was going to comment this too, but she did grow up being belittled and compared to her sister all the time, so I’m giving her some time to hopefully have character development.

yeah like nothing against the FL, but i'm totally reading this just for oscar. like he's the one that makes the plot worthwhile.

I mean she was raised by a terrible family who treated her terribly. Like obviously she doesn’t have that much confidence due to how her family belittles her on how she isn’t ”ladylike” or
”proper”. But she is clearly developing into a more confident person because of Oscar. Pls give her a chance

i bet if she existed irl, people like you would be the reason for her low self-esteem. the girl is just 18 and has went through neglect, abuse, domestic violence, malnutrition, etc etc but you want her to randomly toughen up and be a girlboss?? ofc shes timid, its been barely 7 chapters or what. if shes not your type of mc, then go read one of those "strong female lead" tag stories, and leave this one for people who want to see her character development.

HUH?? idk if you're directing it to OP or to other ppl like me in this thread, but regardless i feel like this is actually kinda horrible of you to accuse someone of having an abusive personality irl simply bc of different tastes? bc tbh, saying "i bet if she existed irl, people like you would be the reason for her low self-esteem" and then listing her abusive background as if we'd justify it simply bc we wish she was a bit more active in a story made for entertainment, is kinda crazy,,, like i'm glad you're out here defending MC bc abuse victims should never be judged for how they react a situation, but i think you're arguing in the wrong thread here LOL. bc everyone here is just kinda saying they're reading this story not for her, but for other factors (whether it be for the plot, character development, or other characters), and that is literally okay. like i feel like your comment should be directed towards people who are annoyed or apathetic towards MC or hate the story bc of her, which is nobody here. if anything, a ton of people in this thread are clearly looking forward to her character development or have a vested interest in other aspects of this story, and it's not like anybody here is judging anyone for liking or supporting MC, so you shouldn't judge anyone for not liking her as much, especially when it's over just personal preference. like nobody is making a moral judgment of her circumstances. it's just that people have diff tastes, and having opinions about what's entertaining or not is okay in regards to content made for entertainment. and it's okay for people to find the rest of the story entertaining, and have little interest in certain aspects of it (and in this case, that would just be the MC). like we can choose to have little interest in the MC without being sympathetic towards her or her circumstances, because our personal judgment and moral judgment can be mutually exclusive, you know . sorry if this is kinda long

and of course people can have different opinions over a literal fictional character, i understand that. the story is obviously made for entertainment so to whomever's boat it floats is not my issue or anyone's. this comment was aimed towards someone who was literally berating the mc and calling her names, also apparently how she would treat oscar better than mc if he was real, thats why i used the irl situation. but i cant find their comment anymore? im guessing they deleted it sorry it also turned long
