That's not the issue. the issue is these writers don't know how to write female characters. therefore female love interests alway ends up being some damsel in distress despite the fact that the writer had written them as strong independent women.
there's this Gap in the character that is written one way only to be protray another.so it is jarring and off putting and leads readers to greatly dislike the FL.
So long story short ppl have been burnt to many times with the promise of a good fl only to get borderline harem damsel in distress bs FLs. ╮(￣▽￣)╭
Honestly I'm not a fan of romance but I believed if it was executed well in story it will be a good addition. Although there are some story out there that is not suited for romance I think there are also story that deserves romance it's just that sometimes the way they write is a little bit off. Besides I believed his new life is about taking the other path he took before didn't he married not for love so maybe this time they're trying to build his romance. Like you don't expect that every character in a story will stay bachelor for their whole life right?
