I think the one inside the ring, Ali-kun is the soul of the demon king and he and iruma are somehow linked since Iruma is wearing the ring of gluttony. More Iruma levels up in the hierarchy, the more his power returns to him. Remember when Iruma became rank 5? Ali-san said he was sleeping and suddenly woke up beaming with power.

We know that alikered is derekila mana and thru the flashback with Sullivan that he was injured terrible for his blood to be everywhere, thermila have an ability to stop time, who say that he can't reverse it but I dislike this theory because if iruma really are derekila he would return to the throne not became the next demon king
I mean yeah fair enough....the key just Sullivan motive then...why he brings human in demon realm and sometimes speak about changing demon realm etch(it's strongly foreshadowing when banquet arc I think), even iruma misfortune struggling is really weird for me like his soul not belong to these world(I got this theory from manhwa when you're not belong to some world there force decline their existence), but yeah just waiting I guess. That's still what I think until now even if you said he could be a Babyl's teacher. I just have this inkling feeling that he can't only be a Babyl's teacher, it just doesn't feel like it has that much influence, he has to be a bigger part of the demon world. I think you were right about him wanting to be someone who helps other people grow, but him being the demon king is actually more reason he could do that, not being a teacher. He can show the world that he can do that and make them follow him.
