Ofc ends almost never justify means (bc you only consider that sentiment when the means were pretty bad)
That's why, at least how I read it, I think he was just pondering about it. Like he's not the one that planned it and can't change the past now, so all he can do is ponder about it and move forward. He can't really even punish the advisor rn or it kinda sinks his whole bid for crown prince which would let the other guy in, which would prob be worse for everyone
BRO HE DID NOT JUST SAY THAT. HE DID NOT JUST SAY THAT DELIBERATELY STARTING A WAR TO GAIN POWER WAS THE RIGHT DECISION. Bro, what the actual f*ck. That wasn’t a thing in the novel. That’s genuinely so messed up. Carlisle, I like you, but you’re really walking on a thin ice here. You want to be a good emperor? Good emperors don’t wage wars sacrificing their own innocent people just to gain a throne. I am so with Asha on that, what Rafelt did (or whatever his name is spelled) is so disgusting and I can’t believe our Carlisle is suddenly agreeing with it. That really… so disappointing. Genuinely Asha should just be the emperor, let’s be honest, she deserves to rule the most. She has her priorities and values right. I don’t know how to feel about him rn.
Spoiler!!!!
I hate that even in the novel waging this war on purpose does not get any consequences whatsoever. Like, no one pays for it, it’s just brushed off. Idk about others, but I think that’s such a big deal? To do smth like that?
