Im gonna guess the family dynamic. The father seems to be a prick who only favors his daughter compared to his two other sons who he will be detached and cold to. The sons would feel awkward around their father and obsessed over their sister.
Other than that, for the fl’s mom that’s extremely selfish to leave 2 children behind, have another, not tell said child about 2 siblings (doubt she woulda known if she hadn’t regressed), and leave no words or nothing for her 2 boys before she disappeared
