that's because in japanese, "I" is gendered. Ore/Boku - man, Watashi/Atashi/Uchi- woman. Out of all these only Watashi is used by men and women both and usually used by men only in formal settings.
I LOVE the exploration of gender but for the love of god the referring to themself in third perspective is so cringe
