It's common in CN bl supernatural/horror novels. MXTX's novels are like that, from SVSSS, MDZS to TGCF-- they all use common tropes, but what separates them from the rest is the immersive writing.

wait fr? i mean not the bl w supernatural but specifically the baby and drugs fertilized on corpses ik cn w supernatural/horror is common i mightve been wrong to mention those things if those are common in cn bl and compare to tgcf. “common” similarly to how we have truck-kun who appears in every isekai?

Not as common as truck-kun hahah but I've seen some of them in CN bl supernatural. The baby in particular is a Kuman Thong, which every modern bl supernatural novels I've read seemed to have as a staple (especially if it includes the entertainment industry). The ghost face is more unique, but I remember first encountering them in another bl novel and not in TGCF (although I don't remember what it was since it was a long time ago).

I personally think it's bc they're basing on actual superstitions and not just making it up on the spot. China, especially, is rich in folklore. They probably have a directory to choose from per episodic arc hahaha Also Kuman Thong is well known in Asia, since a lot of Thai artists actually admitted that they raised them.

Drugs fertilized on corpses is a rare one though, or maybe I haven't read enough bls to encounter them. Including drugs is rare enough, I think, unless the novel/manhua is centered on the police force. It's kind of a gray area, since the novel/manhua itself might get deleted bc they already ban bl as it is, including supernatural AND drugs will get it deleted faster.
