I know it’s ridiculous to think too hard about it, but this is my second read and I have a theory.
First is everything that happened in the story did actually happen, except the end. Because at the end they were never in the same frame. I think that Eri before she died filmed that scene like a one sided conversation. And then the MC (did he ever have a name?), when he got older could film the other side of the conversation. (I think he was gonna film it whenever he himself was going to die, either from natural causes or suicide, since the manga deals with death and grief)
