yes!! exactly!!! it is clearly a story about an abuser and his effect on the victim. it shows the abuse, what lead up to the abuse, why he stays with his abuser, and during the climax when we learn that he no longer has a reason to stay, he very realistically doesn’t leave! and then it ends!
i personally loved how it was told and i hope it ends here with no side stories. being this short it means there was clearly a story that the author was trying to tell, but everyone zeroes in on the particularly nasty parts and disregards everything else. news flash: rape and abusers go hand in hand 90% of the time, it’s not surprising there’s dark themes in a dark story.
i don’t understand why people see something they don’t like, read to the end, and are shocked that they didn’t like it. like, what????
me every time but at this point i am just tired... like the story is "shit" and that’s literally the point. it’s just a story being told in the end. we’ll never truly know why the author wrote it, we can just suppose (except if they made their purpose very clear...) and please don’t come at me talking about how obvious the story is just porn for satisfying deranged desires, like yes it can be true, but it can also be not true (for example it can be an observation or a psychological analysis or satire idk)... depends on how you gonna use or take the story.
my hypothesis is that almost every mangago user here is trying to find something that turns them on, so ofc their first reflex is asking if someone else get truly turned on by this and get mortified... and the rest are just people who are genuinely weirded out and concerned or cannot comprehend how can someone write such vile thing... but all of this is coming from someone who writes forbidden arts just for the sake of writing so idk if my opinion still stands here lmao...
I don’t think the story is “shit” I think it paints a lot of realism to situations like this. Media romanticized gangers and the yakuza for example but REAL yakuza and mafia do messed up thinks (think Junko Furuta for example), not to mention a lot of BL on here romantisizes SA as well…there are tons of stories where a victim falls head over heels with someone who pretty much assaults them. Here we get the raw truth of the reality of those situations, and the ending is powerful…for his entire life he’s thought what he was enduring was all to protect someone, it was how he coped with the suffering. The ending, where he’s pretty much hysteric and in denial makes sense, because if he accepts his reality then that would mean he’s suffered for nothing, and everything he’s endured was for no one. Think of it as a sort of coping mechanism to grasp on to what little sanity he may have left. I don’t think this was meant for any sort of gratification, and if people wanted that then there are plenty of things to read that will have it and it not be this tragic. Sign is really fluffy and has smut, if I remember correctly. It’s just tiresome seeing people read through an entire work of someone and then get upset about it. If horror and psychological isn’t a genre their into then they should find something that is preferred. Just by looking at the cover, there’s no way they could assume this would be anything but something tragic or dark.
Don’t worry, i just used that word cuz everyone refers this story as shit without using any critical thinking at all... while what is happening is shit, the story in itself is well thought. for me it opened to a lot of interpretations, discussions n perspectives on manipulation/abuse. my personal take is either the author invites the reader to react but also question these issues, like why ppl act like this, or they wrote it to tell a story that holds an important topic to them...
to conclude i always go by this saying too when I defend these types of stories "u ain’t complain about horror in a horror story, that’s kinda dumb"... anw sorry for dragging this convo i was just frustrated by everyone rating this like it was some random hentai
Yes exactly! And just to add, it’s frustrating to me bc, I can get it’s not for everyone but what I don’t get is why they even click to read if they know they won’t like this kind of content. It’s called Ashtray, the description tells you that the ML has put burns all over his body, and that he won’t escape him. Yet they read it anyway, finish it in entirety, just to complain Like, if they hated it that much then they wouldn’t read it to completion. To me they just want to act high and mighty while simultaneously in denial about liking darker content. Because nothing about the title, description, or cover photo looks even remotely fluff or soft. Not to mention there’s photos they can preview before reading too. there’s just not a lot of justification for them to have even read it at all yet alone to complain. Lol. Sorry for ranting btw, the comments are just giving me headaches these days when I see them under works like this.
I hear you no worries lol ! Recently some of the comments here lacks nuances, constructive criticism n general common sense (I got flashbacks from defending stories like Sheep’s Mask or Aesthetics of Unpleasantness but at least my paragraphs paid off at some point ) And I don’t trust ratings/reviews bc of this issue too. Like yes you’re free to comment, but you’re not in the right place to complain so plz just stop it’s tiring. Anw it was a pleasure talking to u, won’t keep u any longer here lmao
People are complaining about the story but how about just not reading them?? It’s clearly a psychological story, someone could be releasing trauma, raising awareness, or hell even if there isn’t some deeper reason, it’s just a story. Just like any other horror, it’s going to have things you may not like to see. The person who wrote Saw (literal torture scenes for 666 minutes) isn’t a murderer so why would this creator be any more messed up? If you want fluff read fluff. Simple as that.
