Inherited at birth: Also known as congenital heterochromia, this can be caused by genetic mutations that only affect eye color, or by syndromes like Horner's, Sturge-Weber, Waardenburg, or Parry-Romberg
the parents don't have to have heterochromia for the child to get it

Maybe I missed something but does the story explain why Ash has heterochromia? It seems to say that his mother didn't have an affair but one of his eyes does match Gordons
