I just don’t think Gege is a great storyteller tbh. He’s not the worst I’ve seen by any means but he’s not great.
The pacing is weird for this super drawn out fight. Way too many convenient plot twist secret moves that weren’t foreshadowed properly or just given a brief explanation that we are force fed to accept.
I don’t mind character deaths. I don’t. BUT, they have to be done really really well. We are getting deaths for the sake of deaths. It doesn’t make the story edgy - it just makes the audience lose the ability to invest in characters because what’s the point. Which also takes away from the reading experience. If I’m anticipating a character death, I want to be on the edge on my seat in anxiety about it. Now, it’s just like “meh, another one?” Like I wanna cry like a baby when a great charged dies. The fact that I don’t feel that from anyone in this manga says a lot about how they are written but more than that, the pacing of their stories. And some had the potential to really invoke that type of reaction with more time
Exactly. To me jjk storytelling took a nose dive after the first part of the culling games. Shit just stopped making sense and got kind of repetitive and sloppy after that.
