Yes its tragic ending. At the end, deon gets punished the most and i think he also sacrificed his sight for cruel and also took his brother’s karma so that when cruel is reborn, he will be given a better life. So in the next life, deon will be blind and will continue suffer more in his next lives.
But there’s sequel where deon becomes death’s, the being responsible for deon’s karma (not a bad guy i think but like a death god) apprentice(?) or something but tldr for happy moments: cruel, his brother is back and is deon, now called raven’s guardian spirit and he gained black hair and green eyes from borrowing his brother’s power. Fun fact, deon always wanted to have the same black hair and green eyes as his family does so he finally got what he wished the most. The webnovel is still ongoing so there’s no ending to the sequel yet
