I'd say archery requires way more aim and calculation. An arrow is slow and heavy enough where gravity's affects are much more prevalent, and the wind can affect its trajectory. A bullet goes so fast it doesn't have as much room to fall, and it creates its own swirl in the air that protects it from most winds. Due to this, without any practice, realistically he'd be aiming too high until he adjusts to the speed of a bullet
