One single complaint

It bothers me, just a nitpick, that Shingun didn’t figure out Jake’s identity on his own. There were several conversations about Shingun trying to put them on similar levels information wise, showed multiple scenes with his informant contact, built up the hackers getting serious on his side, all for the revelation to be given to him. Like Jake’s identity just stares him in the face, it’s nothing HE does to figure it out. It’s all circumstance.

I like Shingun, I do, definitely one of my favorite BL MC’s, but… he doesn’t beat the typical damsel in distress allegations. He always needs saving in the end and he never even gets close to equal footing as Jake. This is just my one nitpick in the story. Doesn’t ruin it for me, just wish this one element could have been addressed or handled better.

This could all be addressed in season 3, so holding out hope for that.

I so agree with him not knowing Jake’s identify but him being a “typical damsel in distress” is far from true he’s reckless and impulsive yes but Jake has only helped him when he was about to get assaulted which was a situation Jake made on his own and used shin as bait to bring down the gang and the recent from the biker gang , From what I can tell the rest of the story he can hold up his own without anyone interfering. when he payed Ross a visit and he was being way to pushy he punched Ross in the face beside when he helped hosung with those thugs on his own , We can tell so far he can handle on his own. If he got by so far by himself with danger at every corner since he lived most of his life on the streets. But sadly i feel every mc and ml have that dynamic no matter what you read the mc gets into some trouble and the ml helps him out of the situation so it’s to be expected this trope happens in Movies, Anime , Books , Shows, it’s very cliche but you can see this stereotype everywhere doesn’t matter the genre romantic or not. So I wouldn’t really say damsel in distress but just very careless and rash as well daring nonetheless that’s what just makes him , him a nonconformist, unrestrained mainchacter.

So I wouldn’t say that at all so many times the mc gets into a tight position where they can’t really do anything and that’s where the ml or side character provide support which is mostly for the story plot or for the characters to get closer and build a stronger bond or a deep connection its a good scenario as long as it’s not overplayed which hasn’t happened thankfully

moreover a main character who just succeeded in everything is just plain and has no depths whatsoever and would have no room for character development and just be superficial and very predictable in each thing they do. That’s why many storylines need those moments for development or sequences that needs to transpire throughout the story for it to be realistic and for the readers/viewers to connect with the Mc and story.
