It was pretty good until he drugged and raped him. Was it Marcel that he gave him? I hope not. I knew Adrian wasn't anywhere near a nice guy, but damn. This had potential, too bad it was wasted in the end :(

I don't see how anything materially changed from before MC was confined to after. If it's about how sympathetic the two main characters were, then, the ML was just as much of a bastard who was abusing, manipulating and torturing people not because he had to for some solid material reason but just for the sake of being evil and the story was pushing the "oh, poor traumatized baby who just wants someone on the side" angle. The MC was just as much of a pathetic character before as he is now, at least now he can't help his brain not functioning because he is drugged. But again the purpose of the story, driving character arc for him was set as "look at this poor guy living a miserable life who is so nice, sweet and naive and this cool guy is in love with him and so he can't help but jump into bed with him and start acting like a simp. But yeah let's give him a background of a ex-special ops veteran whose sister is missing and almost definitely at risk because of the same guy whose dick he's crazy for

ML is good as a villain who gets ruined because the story is trying to convince us that the romance between him and the MC is something we should care about. But yeah let's give him a background of a ex-special ops veteran whose sister is missing and almost definitely at risk because of the same guy whose dick he's crazy even if it makes no sense with the character behaviour we are writing but the veteran PTSD only needs to serve as an excuse to make him act tortured and traumatized to make the audience pity him and the sister plot is just to let the him get involved with the ML with some semblance of a conflict that will fizzle out as soon as the romance starts." The main characters' relationship wasn't interesting from the start. Everything else about this story expect for their relationship is what is interesting. The scientist, the MC's sister, the police and their conflict with the ML and his company is what is enticing about the story.
If that part of the story continues to be just as interesting, then whatever is going on with the main pair doesn't matter. Their romance was never the main charm of the story in the first place.
