People are so indifferent about it, that when it happens in the story, it's treated as nothing more than a plot point, almost like a trope or a stereotype. It's not treated with gravity it should.

They are CONSENTUALLY engaging in non consentual play (pretend) that can be stopped at any point and has (or it should, like don't do this if you don't research, put boundaries, and have a trusting play partner!!) strict rules to be followed that insure safety of both participants of the play.

I'm so glad we're calling out how much r*pe is romanticized in books (and grooming, or sex with minors).
