He doesn’t find it funny. A lot of people smile in serious situations when it’s uncomfortable, it’s a kind of defense mechanism. I do this when I was dealing with mental health, I’ve recovered though but the trauma never goes.
I dont think he was uncomfortable or found it funny, I think he was smiling about the irony of the situation and couldn’t help smiling. I guess you could say he found it funny, but it seems a bit different.
