So basically espers were created to save the world from evil angels and now that the war is over they don’t want to dispose/kill the espers so they paired them up w/ soldiers who also helped w/ the war. Michael/eve is the first esper and they took away his memory because he was going on a rampage or smth. Also, I think even and thr mc had a relationship in the past to “help espers calm down” because it was mentioned in the epilogue.

Michael was made by using the flesh of that first angel and was engineered from its DNA. All the other espers were made from him, which is why they call him 'father'. The guides, including Adam, were made by injecting humans with the blood of the angel. So both engineered but in different ways. Because the guides were born human and don't have any abilities other than keeping the espers stable, they're still treated like normal people. The espers aren't considered human because they were made from the angels flesh/DNA and have powers that humans can't control, which is why people talk about them like animals or something non-human.
