but i hate places with direct sunlight facing the window, in the summer the room gets HELLA HOT

    Ikr i went to this weird hotel once and the room was basically wrapped in windows and all the heat from the sun just seeped in, the room was basically a microwave with a curtain... The AC was meaningless.

    they're good for ppl with a lot of sun-happy plants (like my parents) but, even then, temperature and humidity control is very important

    Well having a house that is thoroughly exposed in sunlight is good for your mental health and your houseplants (which are also good for your mental health). Also, if you live in a humid part of the city it saves you from the endless battle with molds, and during winter time you'll save on your electric and gas bills having natural light longer and not needing to turn on the heaters in the central hours of the day.
