While I know that Meiba made the decision to kill him only for her own sake, but tbh it's the best choice for him as well, if we assume that he isn't able to deal with the scheme. Because if the holy country gets their hands on him by making him impregnate Meiba(and let's not ignore, how horrible it is to be raped in the first place), then who knows what these crazed, psychopathic fanatics will do to him. Again, assuming they have a chance at succeeding. Torture, abuse, both physical and mental, most likely.
On the other hand, killing him is almost a mercy. The death probably won't be too fun, but it's over quick, and then he would be too dead to care about anything anyway.

I mean, this is why the phrase "death, or worse" exists in the first place, because there are a million things worse than death.

But yeah, he is def not going to fall for their schemes.
