i think he's crying due to shock; he lost all of his memories from nine years ago and suddenly regained them all (he also realized that the guy he had been hating on is actually the one who saved him and that all of his friends are 1. traitors 2. all dead). to me he did went outside but then rushed back in to wait for ji hoon
It was real and he went back to the room to wait for the other guy to come back. If you look at the last image it is a stick drawing of both of them getting fish out of the fish tank.
